Church on Monday Austin jazz group now known as Church on Monday was originally formed by Elias Haslanger in the fall of 2011 for Elias's 5th recording as a leader. Church on Monday was the name of an original composition Elias wrote for that session, which then became the title track for his new recording. After a successful release, spending 11 weeks on the JazzWeek charts and positive reviews in publications like Downbeat and Jazz Times, Elias secured a residency at Austin's famous Continental Club Gallery. Now 9+ years later, the name of the song and the name of the recording has turned into the name of the band, and, the name of one of Austin's longest running and most beloved live music residencies. People line up outside the club every Monday starting at 8pm to catch Church on Monday and their electric set of jazz, blues, ballads, groove, swing and more.
